The Wall Street Journal has created a data visualization called "What's Your Pay Gap?" illustrating the disparity between median wages for men and women for 442 major occupations in the United States. Users can examine the difference in pay for men and women across the whole work force as well as compare the pay gap for specific occupations. Of the 446 major occupations listed bythe Census Bureau (the visualization omits 24 broad groupings, such as "managers, all others"), women make more than men for just seven occupations, which include postal service mail carriers, dieticians and nutritionists, and crane tower operators.

Living Wage Calculator

In many American communities, families working in low-wage jobs make insufficient income to live locally given the local cost of living. Recently, in a number of high-cost communities, community organizers and citizens have successfully argued that the prevailing wage offered by the public sector and key businesses should reflect a wage rate required to meet minimum standards of living. This living wage calculator estimates the cost of living in a specified community or region. The calculator lists typical expenses, the living wage and typical wages for the selected location.
